Project title Above Beside Below: Fallen Tree Upcycling Centre

Project description In London, urban development and extreme weather causes significant tree loss, undermining the city’s resilience to natural disasters. In response, this Wandsworth-based project addresses the challenge by repurposing fallen trees that are otherwise destined for incineration and transforming them into treasurable everyday consumables. It includes timber workshops, an auction house and an educational centre with tree nursery, showcasing innovation and environmental responsibility. The project seeks to revitalise local manufacturing under the ‘Made in London’ brand, emphasising economic and environmental benefits. The project aims to create a city where sustainability and innovation lead to a happier, healthier urban environment for all.

Tutor citation Hosea’s project grasps a clear and relatable issue and ties it in with wider social issues with an ease and charming narrative, resulting in a project which questions a much deeper-rooted issue within society – that of quality and craftsmanship. Louis Mayes, Mark Rist
