Project title Rossaveel Maritime School
Project description This project is in Connemara, Ireland, and responds to the Irish government’s initiative to revitalise remote islands. The project explores strategies to address challenges of population decline, erosion of traditional practices and overfishing. The scheme is a school offering educational opportunities to do with foraging seaweed and marine ecosystems. A seaweed-thatched roof shelters the long-abandoned coastguard station. Inspired by spatial memories, the vernacular Irish farmhouse, and intimacy, a series of conditions have been created that orchestrate a sensory journey – including light, wind, waves and tactile surfaces.
Tutor citation Agata has been ambitious in the scope of work within the project. It is a proposal that binds together the livelihood of the people and the landscape, showing a deep understanding of place and time. Charlotte Harris, Keita Tajima

Project title Vocational School for Advanced Construction Technology
Project description Responding to environmental concerns, rapid urban development, poor urban planning and earthquake risk, this proposal offers an alternative redevelopment solution for Istanbul’s unsuccessful Sali Pazari. It applies timber construction and adaptive reuse to revitalise the Kadikoy Tuesday market as a vocational school. The project leverages digital technologies to modernise construction and aims to equip students with the skills to meet the construction industry’s challenges. Formed of a hub with classrooms, workshops and material labs, the scheme fosters a relationship between education, local commerce and community.
Tutor citation By effectively balancing environmental considerations with social impacts, this design exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to architecture that seeks to create built environments that are not only ecologically responsible but also socially enriching. Teoman Ayas, Isaie Bloch
