Allford, an AHMM founding director, will address the implications of restrictions on use of insulation and cladding materials at the one-day online event, which takes place on 4 November.
Following the devastating and tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in 2017, the regulatory framework and fire safety processes are evolving rapidly. The Fire Safety Design conference will examine the lessons learned from the tragedy to date, focusing on the practical implications for design, specification, and management within architectural practices.
Paul Hyett, expert witness at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, will chair the event – which includes speakers Joanna Pencakowski, associate partner at RSHP; Jane Duncan, chair of the RIBA Expert Panel on Fire Safety after Grenfell; and Samantha Peat, chief executive and chief underwriting officer of The Wren Insurance Association.
Construction solicitor James Pickavance, partner at Jones Day, and Paul Morrell, chartered quantity surveyor and former chief construction adviser to government, will also be speaking.
Key topics the CPD-accredited conference will address include:
- Understanding duties and responsibilities
- What architects need to remember
- Design, detailing and materials – getting it right
- Fire design and professional indemnity insurance
- Who checks what and when?
- Protecting specification integrity
- How much do you know about the product testing regime? And how much should you know?
- What's next
The conference will provide opportunities to take part in roundtables, learn from case studies and understand best-practice through a series of panel discussions and talks.
