The awards, formerly known as the Women in Architecture Awards, are run in partnership with The Architectural Review.
Three categories of the W Awards 2025 are now open for entries including the MJ Long Prize for Excellence in Practice, awarded to UK-based designers working in practice for a recent building for which they were project architect.
Named in memory of inspirational architect, lecturer and writer Mary Jane Long, the award celebrates architects who are excelling in UK-based practices. Previous winners have included Tracy Meller, partner at RSHP, for her work on the Centre Building at the London School of Economics (2020) and Alice Brownfield, associate director at Peter Barber Architects, for the series of new homes and interventions she led at Kiln Place in Camden (2021).

Last year's winner was Jennifer Frewen, associate director at Takero Shimazaki Architects, for the Royal Academy of Dance (2024).
The other W Awards categories are the Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture, open to practice leaders from all over the world under the age of 45; and a prize for research projects investigating the spatial implications of gender and sexuality.
Now in its third year, this research prize recognises research projects that investigate the complex relations between gender and architecture, and challenge patriarchal spatial systems.
Entry to the W Awards is free and you can nominate yourself or someone else. Find out more about the different prizes and eligibility criteria here. The entry deadline is 29 November 2024.
All shortlisted practitioners will receive coverage in both the AJ and the AR. We look forward to receiving your entries!
